PANAMA CITY, FLA.—Hurricane Michael made landfall in the Florida panhandle as a Category 4 storm on October 10, 2018. It was one of the most powerful storms to hit the United States. It leveled homes on the Gulf coast and left over one million customers without electricity. In the days following the hurricane, the death toll rose to over 35 across four states, including at least 15 in Florida’s Bay County.
